The King of Spain receives H.E. Dr. Dario Item, Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda

On January 16, 2019 H.E. Dr. Dario Item was received by King Felipe VI of Spain in Madrid as the new ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda in Spain. On that occasion his Credentials were presented.

In the Royal Palace of Madrid, King Felipe VI of Spain welcomed the ambassadors of Antigua and Barbuda, Dario Item, of Kuwait, Ayadah Alsaidi, of Costa Rica, Ana Helena Chacón, of Uzbekistan, Jakhongir Ganiev, of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Louise Nzanga, of Brazil, Pompeu Andreucci and of Senegal, Mariame Sy Epse. This ceremony was particularly special because for the first time in the Kingdom of Spain, was established the Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda accrediting the ambassador Dario Item.

The meeting between His Majesty the King and the ambassadors took place for the presentation of the Letters of Credence, which accredited the new seven heads of mission as representatives of the respective nations in the Kingdom of Spain.

The 7 new Ambassadors arrived at the Royal Palace in Madrid in a carriage and were accompanied by the civil staff of the National Heritage, who wore period costumes for the occasion. Then, they were received in the courtyard of the Armoury by members of the Royal Guard. The soundtrack to this important moment was the national anthems of each country.

The ceremony, which took place in the sumptuous halls of the Royal Palace, was formal and solemn and respected traditional canons. In fact, everything took place in accordance with the Vienna Convention of 1961. And as per protocol, at the end of the ceremony, Dario Item and the other ambassadors had an individual conversation with the King, during which issues of great interest were discussed and bilateral relations initiated. After the meeting with Felipe VI, which took place in the presence of photographers and videographers, Dario Item was accompanied by the staff of the diplomatic ceremony at the headquarters of his Embassy in the Kingdom of Spain.
